GETTING THERE:
BOATS
Are boats allowed at Summer Nights at South Lake Union Park?
Busy boat traffic on Lake Union and the need to keep legally required access routes open have led the Seattle Police Harbor Patrol to establish an “exclusion zone” to manage the many activities on the lake.
Police boats will enforce this closure from two hours before each concert until one hour after the end of the concert. The “exclusion zone” extends 100 yards north of the park into Lake Union, and boat spectators will not be allowed near the park on concert days during the period from two hours before the concert until the concert ends.
Specific provisions during those times include:
- Boat spectators will not have access to the southwest corner of Lake Union because of the need to keep the way clear for seaplanes and tour boats to travel to and from their docks.
- Spectators in boats of any size, including kayaks, will not be allowed in Waterway #3 on the west side of the park.
- No anchorage or rafting will be permitted on Lake Union.
- No boat tie-ups, boat drop-offs, or boat pick-ups will be allowed from the docks or shoreline at South Lake Union Park.
For more information, please see the official Seattle Parks & Recreation press release by clicking here, or contact Virginia Swanson, Special Events Coordinator, at 684-8017 or virginia.swanson@seattle.gov.
